Hi everyone, long time user of OCUK but never really been on the forums much!

I was wondering if anyone could share some wisdom on the current state of graphics cards, and what would give me the best value for around 200ish quid? Thanks in advance! Ideally, I want one with an HDMI port (not a fan of mini-hdmi)

Cheers guys - wasn't sure what the state of play was concerning AMD/Nvidia, whether they were on similar levels for now I always thought Nvidia cards were a bit ahead recently xD

That one looks perfect to be honest, and I'm guessing it would offer a decent performance increase over say the Nvidia 560 Series? Or are they pretty similar?

If you mean the 560ti theres not a lot in it at stock but the the 7850's overclock massively and its just a case of installing asus GPU tweek or afterburner and moving the slider.

I got a poor overclocking one so only got it to 1150Mhz (which still boots a 560ti) but many people have broken 1200Mhz with some hitting 1350Mhz.
It is ofc luck of the draw but there's many a happy owner, take a look at this thread

There's only one cheaper Nvidia gpu that may go faster than an oc'd 7850 in BF3 though-the 480.

But that would come at a price, plus it's complete stupidity basing a purchase on one game.

But if you only really play bf3 it makes sense to purchase Nvidia, also lets not forget Nvidia cards are just as good in other games as AMD, if not better as is the case with bf3, it's a shame bf3 runs so poor on AMD cards, I have a mate in bf3 running a 7970 and only getting 10fps more than me with my old GTX480.

Only reason i'm hanging onto my GTX480 is because of BF3. To get significant better performance i'd need to get a £300 GTX 670 which is more than twice the price of what a GTX 480 would go for on mm.

Tell your mate to push the slider in CCC or AB, his fps will hit more or less the same as a 680.

Amd's BF3 is not so poor as you think with the 560/70's v's 69 series, it had a slightly masked performance advantage.

The fps numbers in reviews don't tell the whole story, techreport revealed the real story last year.

Review of the new Ghz 7970 had this to say(you'll be in for a shock):
