MeatLoaf said:Seconded, the 7900GT is about £20 over budget. Hpwever for £150 you should be able to get a second hand 7800GTX.
locutus12 said:for the same price as a second hand 7800GTX you can buy a new X1800XT which is fater with more features.
MeatLoaf said:True but he said he wanted nvidia.
or he has more money than sence...
I'm sorry to say it, but you shouldn't let brand loyalty get in the way of spending as little as possible for the most performance. The X1800XT fits your budget perfectly and it's by far the fastest card for miles in every direction around that price.Switch84 said:Would prefer to go with nvidia tbh.
Not as power hungry, but also not anywhere near as powerful. The X1800XT suits his needs perfectly with a £150 budget, and it's the absolute best performance he will get for that price anywhere.Tetras said:It is worth mentioning that a 7600 GT wouldn't be as power hungry as an X1800 XT, make sure you have a PSU up to the job for either.

NocomplyUK said:So is the X1800XT better than the X1900GT then?
Also PLEASE tell me ATI have sorted their drivers out by now. It's been a long time since i owned an ATI but the drivers were terrible.....
NocomplyUK said:Me too tbh but common sense is winning out over brand loyalty.
Until reading this thread i was trying to decide between an X1900GT (£146 on OC) or an X1900XT which was £199 on OC until they sold out

Aye, I am running my X1900XT at XT-X speeds on the 460W version of your PSU just fine with blue cathodes, three 80mm fans with blue LEDs, DVD-RW, floppy, hard disk, Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 3GHz, 2GB of GeIL DDR2 etc and it's rock-solid.locutus12 said:no need for meaty PSU`s tis abit of a myth.
me =
X1800XT 512mb
2 hard drives
4 usb devices, 2 currently powerd (1 is an external hard drive)
water cooling
DVDrw
2x 120mm fans with blue LED`s
2X uv cathodes
1 opteron 148 at 2.85 Ghz @ 1.45v
2X 1 gig corsair XMS @ 2.9v
PSU = 400 watt Akasa paxpower, not a problem.
