I'm sorry to say it, but you shouldn't let brand loyalty get in the way of spending as little as possible for the most performance. The X1800XT fits your budget perfectly and it's by far the fastest card for miles in every direction around that price.Switch84 said:

So is the X1800XT better than the X1900GT then?
Also PLEASE tell me ATI have sorted their drivers out by now. It's been a long time since i owned an ATI but the drivers were terrible.....

As for drivers, you can get the ATi Catalysts without their Catalyst Control Centre from here. Many people dislike the CCC because it's bloated and a bit slow.

The X1800XT is an absolute steal atm and you'd be foolish not to take advantage of the low price if its in your price range I reckon, far and away the best vfm card out now.
With regards to ati drivers.......there are no problems that I know of (though I'm sure there might be some incompatibilities somewhere but no more than you'd get with nvidia drivers). I and a lot of other ati users have no probs at all with ati drivers whatsoever. For quite a long time now, since they released the first catalyst driver package (which was very stable iirc) they have gone from strength to strength with speed, stability and compatibility.

Aye, I am running my X1900XT at XT-X speeds on the 460W version of your PSU just fine with blue cathodes, three 80mm fans with blue LEDs, DVD-RW, floppy, hard disk, Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 3GHz, 2GB of GeIL DDR2 etc and it's rock-solid.locutus12 said:

I think many people get confused because they buy cheap psu's with misleading specs. A cheap and nasty 650watt psu will never be as good as a quality 400watt psu to put it simply.
