New Graphics for £220 ish?

I've got a Sandy bridge system that I got from OC about 2 years back with an i5 2500k & a 6950 in, I was thinking of upgrading the GPU, any suggestions? I'm confused of the difference between the new different model numbers, e.g. 280x cards and the older HD 7970.
I think I'd like to stick with Radeon cards really, I thought of second hand but the prices are so high it's silly, my 6950 is almost the same price as I pad 2 years back!

Appreciate any advice.

The 280x is the same card as the 7970 GHZ but i would go for the 280x as its a great card and miles better than the 6950

Hold on to your 6950 for now - it's still a decent card. GPUs in your price range are a bit expensive due to this coin mining malarky.

2 year old technology maybe but not 2 year old cards as they are brand new

Amazing replies guys, thanks so much..I'll wait then, I did think of getting another 6950 for crossfire but not sure it's worth the extra cost, prob better selling my existing and putting the money towards a new card. Besides I bet many are burning out old cards doing the mining. I'm not going down that road.
