I've no idea what it is, it's an dell branded P4 server at 2.8 Ghz. I don't know what memory is in it but I do know it's a HT chip (two clients). It's quite an old server so I'd suspect it was a low FSB speed relative to the latest cores from intel

x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9 GenuineIntel ~ 2792 MHz according to the System Info page

It's in a rack in the server room so it'd be kind of tricky to open it up for more details ;)

My p4 1.6 only had pc133 RAM and an Acer mobo and it's 133FSB. /btw borged a quad xeon 2.8ghz last night and a single p4 2.2 @ 3.2. :D

Must be 800FSB then. Probably rubbish memory and badly configured system...

or a machine that works quite hard for it's living, F@H probably averages around 50 - 70 % of the available CPU time ;)

I suspect you could tell the FSB speed form the stepping and model number?

and these would be the two cores benchies so far (13% and 18% complete)

50% sounds about right...

Gah, having put cpuid on it I've found the issue, the issue is....

the 4 unmatched random sticks of memory at rated speeds ranging form PC3200 down to PC2700

POS OEM computers....

hmmm I think I have a couple of gig of 3200 at home, whould I treat the WORK server with a free upgrade?

Might as well if they are just sitting around

As long as it gets untreated before it's EoL'd or you leave the company. ;)

meh if I leave the company I'd need a pay rise big enough to right off 2gig of RAM and as for EoL

we don't do EoL here, I have a cyrix 233 system that IS STILL USED  and we had to try and fix one just like it the other day.
