Just installed a new Zotac 470 and now when XP (not got 7 yet!) loads up I get no sound through my X-Fi and windows telling me it's found a PCI device and asking for a driver for 'Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio' a file called 'hdaudbus.sys' which means nothing to me. I don't have the internet at the mo, just on phone but downloaded the 258.96 drivers for xp32bit. This has never happened either with my GTX280, 8800ultra or my crappy spare 8400gs. Help. :p

There is a HDMI audio device on the 470. I had the same problem the first time round with my 2900xt. Go to your audio settings in windows and make sure that the output device is set to your X-Fi.

Try and find the audio drivers for the 470 if they're not bundled with the nVidia drivers already to make sure that windows sees them okay.

No can do mate, no internet for now. Well I got the sound working again by trying to uninstall the nvidia drivers and being prompted to uninstall just the nvidia hd audio, to which I selected yes and bingo, we have sound. Still getting the annoying PCI device detected and looking for that driver. Apart from that all okay. Any further ideas chaps and chapettes?

Did you check to make sure windows had the correct sound device set as default in the control panel?

No can do

Is that anywhere near Kathmandu? :D

I am also having problems with audio and running 2 GTX 260's in SLI.

When both cards are installed and the onboard audio is enabled in the BIOS, I get sound popping and sound loops after playing games for a short time. If I ignore it for long enough it goes away sometimes.

If I disable the onboard audio and use USB audio, then the display driver isn't loaded after Windows start up and it's as if I am installing both graphics cards for the first time. If I reinstall the display driver, SLI is detected and all is well apart from the audio popping. But as soon as the system is powered down and then restarted the display drivers don't start with Windows and I have to reinstall them again. If I restart and re enable the onboard audio in the BIOS, then the display driver loads normally but I still get the audio problems.

I've tried the latest drivers for both the onboard audio and the graphics cards, but nothing works. I also reseated both graphics cards.

I have since removed one of the GTX 260's and I the audio is fine, no popping or sound loops.

Motherboard is Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R, with Realtek ALC889 onboard audio.

Windows 7 64Bit Home Premium, fully upto date.
