Hi All,

been doing a fair bit of research and just feel like I'm in the middle ground of choosing between AMD and Intel.

i want to spend £1000 , currently running a 6600k which is starting to feel slow and old and i wanted to start streaming as well as gaming.

the new parts i want are

CPU
MOBO
RAM
1 TB M.2
PSU (current is a 550 watt bronze rated and think its prob on the low side?)
2 TB slow hard drive

current GFX card is 980ti which im happy to sweat for a while longer.

whats your advice on what to get to help with gaming and streaming at the same time, could push budget a little if it was needed. Ill also just re-use my case, as i have a NZXT H440 noise dampened case.

thanks

Can't copy basket to here I'm on my phone 3700x
32gb 3600mhz ram corsair ryzen tuned
1tb nvme western digital
2tb hard drive.
Corsair rm 650 w psu
Gigabyte arourus x570 motherboard
Arctic e34 cpu cooler

All comes to about £960 .

Mite be a bit overkill but hopefully others may help.

Just posted this in your other thread.

Thanks for reply, thats pretty similiar to what i was looking at. Was thinking of stretching for a 3900x (unfortunately the sale ended for it yesterday so i would source it elsewhere for about £405)

or is the 3900x just massively overkill? i would just be streaming general games like league / csgo. But also thought about streaming bannerlords which is a very cpu intensive game.

As as I'm aware it's also depenends on what resolotion and fps you wanna stream at, but that may be also dependent on gpu.

Google system requirements for whatever you stream

Others may have further input on this.

3700X will be just fine to do both for gaming & streaming. If you're also recording it does even more of a hit in the background, so you'd likely take a minor FPS hit. I can stream 1080p60 on my PC with a 3600X and it runs fine, I only notice a small drop in FPS.

Yes you'd benefit with a 3900X as the extra cores/threads helps with doing all of it simultaneously being honest - depends if the extra cost is worth it to you.

Also other variables are what res you game at, what res/fps/bitrate and encoder you stream with on OBS etc etc... The more intense the stream detail is more CPU grunt you need.

Thanks for the comments Sparx and Micky , really appreciate your input. The fact you both mention AMD must mean that they are the right choice going forward if i want to do game and stream.

More than 3700X is unnecessary expensive for standard games.
Also no need for X570 board even if wanting PCIe v4 for future graphics cards.
For example Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite already gives that for more wallet friendly £155.

What's the specific PSU model and age?
