New halo 3 eplison beta test

Congratulations on being selected to participate in the Halo 3 Epsilon! The Epsilon is now available for download on Marketplace!

First, unlike the Alpha, Beta or Delta, this is a very special test in that not only will you be testing nearly final Halo 3 Matchmaking, you will also be able to:
* Play Multiplayer on six maps: Snowbound, High Ground, Valhalla, Last Resort, Epitaph and our new big map, Sandtrap.
* Play Custom Games and test out full game variant editing.
* Play with the Forge and be able to cooperatively edit and save multiplayer map variants.
* Play up to 4 person co-op on a single Campaign level.
* Play and test the full Saved Film functionality, including screenshots you can view in-game for Campaign, Multiplayer and Forge.

Where did you sign up to receive such an email? I bought Crackdown primarily for the Beta but ended up getting a non-Beta copy, doh!

The whole point of the open Beta was to get feedback and to test out the netcode on a grand scale which they have done and got loads of useful feedback and data in that 3 week period.

Also since Halo 3 will be going Gold and being submitted for a rating in a few weeks I cant see them starting another testing phase so soon to release apart from the ones that they do behind closed doors up to the very last minute.

I dont know why someone would even waste their time both writing and sending out that e-mail tbh

First off, it's not 'epsilon beta'. Different stages of development have names from the Greek alphabet, in this case it's alpha, beta, gamma, delta and epsilon. Epsilon is the name given to near-final builds where last bug checks and testing are held (99% done basically). Calling it epsilon-beta makes no sense.

Secondly, only Microsoft employees get to participate, this has been said and repeated by various MS workers on several websites, including Major Nelson and Team Xbox. Anyone else who claim to have the epsilon is lying.

From what I know it's true, there are people with eplison mostly dev and MS employees, if someone did get hold of it, it would probably of been leaked.

Eplison is the 5th greek letter in the alphabet. Alpha and beta are for applications in early dev however eplison is for near closed to final.

They are still play testing it everyday, fixing smalls bugs and adding the finishing touches so I doubt the discs are getting pressed just yet.

I would say they will start in the first week of September.
