Hi there, ive just purchased all the components for a new computer from ocuk and for the storage drive I chose :

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-252-SE&tool=3

which is a Seagate barracuda 7200.12 500 gig drive...

I put it all together and its not recognised in bios...the dvd writer is recognised but not the hdd.......tried swapping sata ports and power connectors.......

ive tried this in my main pc , which just hangs.....

is this dead and in need of rma?

You can try a boot disk with Seagate tools for DOS installed on it, but I'd be surprised if it sees anything.

If the drive is not seen in the BIOS on two different PCs with different SATA cables, then it's very likely DOA. It's not even at the point where you can try running any diagnostics on it.
