Hi,

Just bought a new hard drive and copied an image of the original c drive onto it to save reinstalling Windows and all other programs.

When I boot up it doesn't load into Windows instead I get a message telling me my copy of Windows isn't genuine (it is, honest!)

Any ideas how I can get round this without starting from scratch?

Right click on computer and select properties, towards the bottom you should be able to activate.

There's no option to activate it and I'm locked out of Windows entirely (on the new disk).

It get's better, I'm back on the old hard drive and I had to reactivate Windows only to be told my key 'can't be used to activate Windows on this PC'.

Looks like I'll have to ring them :(

re-activating over the phone is pretty straight forward and its a free-phone number.

Just a pain keying in all the damn characters.
