Hi guys, got my new hardware, mobo, gfx, hdd, cpu.

My windows is SP! but when i tried to put in the new updates on the xp install to the new HDD it said my key was already in use. Used the MS keychanger program and this says it aswell.

I read somewhere that When you originally get your copy verified that it takes a number from the mobo bios and will only allow this number, if you upgrade and the number doesn't agree MS will knock it back.

What can i do apart from buy another copy of windows. Are there any ways to bypass it so it thinks i am using the original hardware, i still have my old HDD if that is of any use

wow some really helpful info for the guy, instead of being the internet police you guys, ill give the guy the number.

0800 018 8354

call that number its all automated answer the questions in the order of 2212 afaik and they will give you a new conf id and your key will then be registered to your new hardware, ive done this at least 3 times with OEM XP Home.

Do i care if im violating the EULA, do i ***** , oh noes bills going to send the "boys" round ;) :D

I had read something about this EULA, great if your mobo decides to go AWOL.
What do i do on the call? do i just need to give them my current key
