I'm installing a new HDD tomorrow, and then formatting the one that's in to use as my Time Machine drive. What's the best way of doing it? I was thinking use something like CCC to copy both partitions (OSX and the Vista partition) and then set the new partition as active. Vape the old one and I'm done.

That about right?

Gah - I misread you initial post. Neither Carbon Copy Cloner or Disk Utility will be able to mess with your NTFS partition...

http://www.tuaw.com/2007/12/22/winclone-backup-your-boot-camp-partition/

"That's where tools such as Winclone, or Mike Bombich's NetRestore, come in; they allow you to easily make a disk image of your Boot Camp partition, which you can then restore to a separate volume, save for archival purposes, etc."

Cheers, I'm funnily enough just waiting for Winclone to finish :)

What's it doing?

Can you hold down the option key to get into the OS X partition then in OS X select System Preferences > Startup Disk > OS X.

It's probably trying to boot from the CD by default.

I can boot if I leave the DVD in. If I set it to boot from the HDD it just sits there. Is it possible to reinstall the entire OS, and use a TIme Machine backup to pull my programs/files/settings etc back across?

Good good :)

10.5.2 installed
