New hdd fitted how to put windows 8 upgrade on.

When i upgraded to windows 8 from 7 i just used the update client through the microsoft site and i also made a iso of the win 8 dvd image problem is i put dvd in pc and restart but it wont boot the dvd what can i do now or will i have to put win7 back on first as that one does boot.

I ended up installing w7 first then installing w8 from usb key. I could still do a clean install, it seems to check the target drive for a windows installation before jt lets you proceed.

Would make sense with it being an upgrade.

It seems you need a os installed first before i can install win 8 as my pc will not boot from my upgrade win8 pro disc.

Wrong, see link above.

If you physically can't boot from the disc you've created, you've erred in creating the disc, or you BIOS options don't give disc boot priority over HD.

where can i get the win8 iso from as it must be my disc thats no good as my win7 will boot no prob.
