New HDD not showing in 'My Computer'

My new Samsung 750GB HDD arrived today so I promptly installed it but it isn't showing up in My Computer. Its showing in the POST sequence and also in device manager, speedfan etc etc

Any ideas?

I think you have to format it first, for it to appear in My Computer.

Use Disk Management to format it...

Start > Run > compmgmt.msc > OK > Storage > Disk Management

Or it might just not be assigned a drive letter and therefore not show, disk management will show you if it has a drive letter. And you can set one if it doesn't.

Not partitioned perhaps? you need to initialise the disk in disk management and create partitions on it before it'll show up. I'm assuming you have installed the drivers etc for the SATA controller?
