Hello all, looking for a new headset for gaming and a lot of music. With it being black friday tomorrow, might be worth alook. Ive had the Sennheiser 363D's for just under 9 years now and ive been very happy with them but I took a trip to Glasgow last year with them and they got soaked in my bag in the raid, not really been the same since but they still work decently.

Anyway Im very undecided about what to get a for a new headset, do I get a wireless pair, wired. Just the headphones and a mic separate etc
Does wireless really affect the quality and price that much? I do have the money to spend on a decent pair if its worth it as I spend a ton of time at the pc gaming and listening to a lot of music.

A friend recommended the Corsair Void Elite but hes not much of a audiophile but he games a lot. I was looking at the Sennheiser PC38X but then another friend said get the Sennheiser HD6XX for the audio.
You can probably tell im abit all over the place with this, any help would be great. Thanks.

Basing on 363D being open design and you not mentioning problem with ambient noise, I assume you don't need sound isolation and hence closed ear cup design.
That opens lots of choises from actual audio makers.

Also what kind gaming experience you're after?
The highest "competitiviness" with most easy to distinguish details like foot steps etc, or strong bass for overall immersion?
You can't have both simultaneously and have to always compromise:
Stronger immersive bass simply always starts to make details harder to distinguish.
(though equalizer setting neutralizing bass for competitive gaming would be one mitigation)

Wireless is more things to wear and fail.
Just for start wired headphones won't run out of battery.

As for what "audiophiles" acclaim as good, doesn't necessary mean it's good for gaming.
Often their sound preference is far from accurate sound and that can hurt gaming performance compared to less acclaimed headphones.

I do like the design and feel of the 363D but I never got them for being open, background or ambient noise isn't really a problem for me. Sound isolation would be nice but not at the expense of anything else.
I play a huge selection of different games, I mostly play mmo's and rpgs but everynow and again ill go hard on a fps or such but not to the point im trying to be rank 1. I liked the idea of wireless and no wire to bother me but not at the expense of anything else, I guess ill just get a decent pair of speakers if I want to sit far away from the pc.

I'd recommend taking a look at the Philips Fidelio X2HR, they have excellent soundstage and surprisingly good bass for an open back design.

You'd need a separate microphone but beyond that they're a fantastic option.

Taking apeak at them now and they seem good. Im debating between the Phillips X2HR and the Sennheiser 38x at the moment. Found a pair for 38x for £108 which is surprising since my 363D's cost just over 200.
