New headunit dim display

I've just bought myself a new Pioneer MVH-X580BT headunit for my Peugeot 207 everything wired up correctly inc the stalk so i can change the main display, the only problem is the display on the Pioneer seems very dim.

I've tried changing the brightness it's currently set to 10 which is max, also turned of dimming which has no effect.

Is there something I've missed when wiring up this headunit or could it be faulty.

Dimmer wire from headunit may be earthing out.

Funny, I have a pioneer head unit which is so bright I cant drive with it on, and the dimmer makes no difference.

Funny that....I have a Pioneer unit which isn't bright (unless I set it bright) and dims when I turn the lights on...works perfectly.

Lets be honest though, its doubtful mine has been installed properly.

It isn't angled in your car is it? Could be the viewing angle isn't great on the head unit.

It thinks the car lights are on so is in night mode?
Is one wire supposed to go to dash illumination?

I'm going to take it out at the weekend and have alook at the wiring, I might try at first disconnecting the orange & white dimmer wire coming from the head unit see if the display brightens up, if that being the case and i can still dim the headunit within it's options then i might just keep it disconnected.
