ive got a budget of £150 max. ideally would like to spend the least amount of money as possible, but i obviously want it to sound good.

it has to have an aux port on the front so i can plug in my ipod.

i'll be using it with my standard comp's at the front (until i can afford some new decent ones)

i've got some sony 6x9's on the parcel shelf

and ill be getting either a 10" or 12" 1000w sub + 1000w amp.

will be running everything but the sub off the headunit.

and would be good if it had some cool features like lil videos and general stuff like that

so, suggestions anyone?

cheers :)

oh yeh and one more thing, must be in silver :)

Don't know of many headunits with an AUX port on the front, but I can fully recommend the Pioneer DEH-P80MP... as I recently got my hands on one. :D

They don't sell them any more so you'll have to go second hand, but I've seen them for around £170-£180 on eBay and well worth the money.

Plenty of power (read: LOTS) using the inbuilt amp and enough features/functions to keep you busy for a long time.

Or, you could always buy my old Pioneer head unit off me ;) Silver (and black) with an aux port on the back... and it'll leave you with money left over to spend on other things!

On another note, I know the DEH-P55BT (is that it?) comes highly regarded. Very nice unit indeed, although it's probably out of your budget.

Here's the P80

:D It's the last track on Clubland 9.

I flicked up to the previous directory (MP3 CD) to take the photo. I don't have any of her albums... promise.

Oh, I just noticed the OP requested videos... funny that. I took some of my HU earlier tonight.

haha not videos of the headunit, but it would be good if the headunit had little videos it played while the music was playin :D

Edit - Realised headunit has already been mentioned :D

Alpine 9850Ri, £20 over budget, but has full iPod control etc.

ive been looking at this one, would it be any good for powering the 2 rear 6x9's and the 2 standard front comps? and would it be any good for adding an amp for the 2 1000w JBL subs?

forget the 6x9s if your having subs in the boot tbh.

why's that?

sorry, as you can tell im a bit new to the whole ICE thing :)

i do normally carry people in the back so want some decent sounds for them in the back aswell. and they only cost me £10 second hand and sound pretty good even on the standard HU.

:)

marcus25, there are two main reasons for not having 6x9's...

1) They drag the soundstage backwards. Would you sit and home and listen to music with your speakers behind you?

2) If you have a sub in the boot with 6x9's in the parcel shelf, the sub will pressurise the air in the boot and cause the excursion (how far the speakers move) to be much greater then they're designed for. Eventually, it'll knacker the voice coils in the speakers and you'll end up with a nice crackling sound from the 6x9's.

I have a set of uprated Kenwood speakers in my standard rear mounts. Nothing is on show, so less chance of the car getting broken into.
