I recently upgraded my pc with a new mobo (gigabyte DS4) and I now need a new heatsink since the heatsink of my old p4 board can't be used. (no bracket to screw the heatsink into).

Going to be using the heatsink with a P4 for the time being untill I get the cash for a C2D cpu.

Could someone possible specme a new heatsink. I'm looking for good cooling and price is pretty open. Low noise would be appriciated but the cooling factor is the most important.

Currently been looking at Artic Cooling models since I've used them in the past but not sure which model would be best or if other makes have better to offer.

Thanks,

SA

loads of ppl with conroes seem 2 be going with the "Scythe cooler", seems 2 b the cooler 2 have atm :D

The air cooler to have is the Tunic Tower 120. If not that and you have loads of cash then it is the Titan Amanda, but some say the tunics better.

I read on these forums that someone was having compatability problems with the DS4 and scythe heatsinks? Can anyone verify this?

I've been looking further and the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775) (HS-017-AR) seems ok. I know its socket 775 which is what I'm looking for but can anyone tell me if this is defenitly compatable with the DS4?

Also been looking at some of the Zalman heatsinks, has anyone had experince with them? I've seen the 775 socket Zalmans are compatable with ds3/ds4...

EDIT: posted too quick :D

I was looking at the Tuniq but its currently out of stock at the moment and I need the heatsink (even if its just a quick solution) quite soon. I'll check out the other.

Thanks for the replies again.

Me too - DS4 and Scythe Ninja - with an e6400 ;)

Running nice!

I done another identical setup for a friend and we ran a AC Freezer pro on his.

his one made 425 x 8

mine is running 435 x 8

Hi you guys ... I have the DS4 board and a Scythe Mine - using the 775 brackets (which I assume are the same for the Ninja) I could not get one pin to seat - it seemed to be the capacitors around the CPU which stopped the bracket from seating properly.

Can you give me an tips please as I really want to fit this hsf (my temps are way too high with the stock cooler)?

Ideally, if any of you could post a pic that would be great for me to compare your seating's with mine.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone? So many people say they have this board and a scythe cooler ... I just can't see how they managed to fit it

Maybe post a picture....showing where your bracket is hitting.

I don't know if these help?

Doesn't look like you're using the LGA775 brackets/pushpins? Are those the 478 clips? Might be why you managed where I'm struggling.

The Scythe Ninja does not need any additional bracket for Socket 478.

So u have to fit these two brackets along with a plate underneath for 775.

OK, I got the Mine seated this time (used more force and the final pin clicked in ... I was scared first time I was going to crack the mobo or something).

Coretemp is showing my e6600 as 42C idle (stock speed), so this is 10C better than before, but possibly a few C more than I was expecting. Maybe my application of AS5 was a little too thick.

Thanks for bearing with me by the way!
