Okay, I would Like some advice if that's okay.

I have recieved my new heat sink.

Question 1, it says on the product description it does not need a fan, I will be running it at stock for now so what would you nice people do, attach fan or not?

I must admit the quieter the better.

Question 2, I have some mx2 thermal solution is the garden pea method best? I've always spread it thin on the CPU, never had any problems, but again would like you lots advice.

Thanks for reading.

Its a passive cooler but its best to use a fan to get the most out off it and keep temps as low as possible.

Yep, small blob or 'grain of rice' and apply heatsink and tighten so the paste gets squashed even..

So I bought the Macho HR 02.

I today thought I would have a go at installing it. I'm a bit miffed:confused:

I followed the instructions but when it came to tightening down the bracket with the 2 screws the fix onto the plate, it wobbled. Are these things supposed to be super tight? Of-course they are, except this wasn't.

The only possible thing that may of helped it was to leave the 4 small intel washers off that fix onto the 4 screws that connects to the motherboard. But it says in the manual to use them.

Maybe I've missed somat? But I did follow the booklet? So know the stock HS is back on, any ideas????????

The pump wasn't noisy, but the 2 fans were, I fancied somat different it didn't fit in my case properly either, I had the back fan on the outside, lol.

Oh dear, the fan outside would be noisier. I can't hear the fans either as I have them on the lowest speed setting. On the highest setting they are noisy, but they shift a lot of air. I also haven't seen a fan with higher SP.

Just looked at the install manual and it looks simple enough. The tension adjustment needs someone who know more than I to comment on.

Be fore installing mount check all the screws / nuts go together like they should. I usually use a pin oiler and put just a hint of a spec of oil on end thread of the cooler mount screws/nuts so there is no binding as things thread together and tighten.

Install the mount and trial install the cooler with protective plastic still on bottom to make sure it fits properly and you can get everything to connect like it should. Then remove the protective cover, put a small dab (rice size) on heat sink and install. ;)

Thank-you.

I appreciate your advice and will happily take it on board.:)

The only thing I 'now that I've left it a couple of hours is' I guess that the 4 intel washers maybe I punt in the wrong place. I will have to look at instructions again I'm sure though I was right:confused:

Thanks again pal:)

Edit. Just to add, I think that when I attempt to try again, I will build it like you suggested, without thermal paste, if it works great if not i will cry.

Edit 2, think I know what I done wrong, I just searched for instructions online and seen whats what.
