Hi, im looking to build a new high end pc - it would be used for web design and maintanence, dvd burning/ripping and media, along with web browsing etc

Now i dont want to use it for gaming, however i would like to have the option to upgrade to a high end gfx at some point down the road.

I threw this toghether:

My main concern is the os - now i want to steer clear of vista, not a fan of it tbh - id like to simply bypass it and get the new os microsoft release. Now i want to take advantage of at least 4gb of ram, so i presume i will be needing a 64bit os - now for a complete noob - how does that differ from a 32bit os, will i run into compatibility issues or will the 64bit run the exact same as the 32bit and have a few more features?

What would be the best graphics cards to go for - a non gaming one?

Ive no interest in overclocking

I am a bit concerned with you're choice for OS 64-bit, as you may encouter major issues with device drivers and software compatibility problems. I would check this first on everyone's website. Personally I would stick with 32-bit.

If you install 4GB of RAM, you should be able to see a max of 3.5GB, which should be just about plenty for what you want to do?

Reagarding a GPU:
A 8800 GT should suffice:

If you are looking at spending a bit more, and want to play games at pretty good settings then a 8800GTX would be better:

You've chosen the wrong Motherboard. Get the Maximus Formula DDR2. Plus, swap the Crucial Ballistix for Corsair XMS2 or OCZ.

64-bit OS's can have issues with software drivers

If you are looking at saving cash, get the 520W Corsair, it will run that system with room to spare. Plus, 2x500gb drives is cheaper than 1x 1tb drive.

How about...

In-terms of 64-bit OS, Vista one is better & SP1 further improves that!

Should handle all the tasks you listed fine & even gaming + mobo is futureproof-ish ;)
