Hey guys, I would like to build a system for working at home mainly. I have been researching over the past 2-3 months and I finally found something that I think, may suit my needs. See the build featured below.

I would appreciate if you guys could approve/disapprove if I am about to spend the money on a good build or if not, please tell me how I can improve it.

Approximate Purchase Date: By the end of this month.

Budget Range: £2000 inc VAT (Flexible - quality is important)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Programming, Automated Testing, Virtual Machines, Photoshop intensively, light gaming(10 hours a month at most), light video watching(the occasional dvd in a weekend).

Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, speakers

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Cheapest on offer.

Parts Preferences: No real preference for components. I am a fan of corsair psus and maybe would like the 650D case, but if better alternatives are suggested, I'm happy. The monitors though, I was looking at Dell u2410 vs Dell u2412M. I want to get two of them. Waiting for the tftcentral review on u2412m. Not sure if DVI only vs HDMI and DVI is ok or not.

I can say that I am a fan of this GPU after reading some nice reviews: MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti TWIN FROZR II 1GB NVIDIA Graphics Card

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe(say 30% chance)

Monitor Resolution: Dual 1920x1200

Additional Comments: The quieter the better. No real need for odd looking cases with leds and all that, the plain corporate style would do just fine.

I am tempted to get the build featured here: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/269162-13-recommended-builds-usage under Enthusiast: $1,317.89 Update MOBO, GPU, PSU & Case. The HighEnd Intel build featured on this forum looks interesting too. I want to swap the i5 for an i7 though.

I have been browsing around for about two months, mostly on toms hardware, hardforum, this forum, and the reviews section on newegg and so far I can say that the build I mentioned above from toms hardware seems to satisfy all my needs.

I want to get an SSD drive for the OS.

Your help will be truly appreciated. I promise a picture with the final setup if it all works according to plan.

64GB SSD for OS. I found when working with VM's i like to keep the main OS on its own drive to not over complicate things.
128GB SSD for progs and VMs
2TB HDD for storing files/images from photoshop.
GTX570 because it give you better performace @ 1920x1200 over the 560Ti. Twin Frozer cooling is quieter and cooler than reference design.
Case: cooling is superb meaning quieter operations.
Windows Pro: if you want to run microsoft virtual pc you need the pro version.
CPU Cooler: with the exception of water cooling the silver arrow is one of the best air coolers about.
16GB of RAM should be enough for you unless your going to be running over 6VMs?

Easy to cut back on things if you need to.
Case: Fractal Design Define R3 Midi
CPU Cooler: Corsair A50 High-Performance CPU Cooler
replace 128GB SSD with: Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB

Wow, the 2ssd idea never came to my head. I guess I should add some thermal paste to it and I'm ready to go. Does anyone else have anything else to add?

I was looking at the Z68 Extreme7 Gen3 motherboard. Would it be a better choice than the one you suggested? Maybe even more future proof?

Thank you very much for your input, you have no idea how much I appreciate your effort.

I would have picked the Extreme7 Gen3 but it was out of stock. If you like the look of it ask in the customer service section and they might be able to tell you when its back in.
The MSI has the same functionality which is why I put it in there.
Bit of a closer look here if you would like.
