New House, New TV

Have recently moved into a new house that has a larger living room meaning our current 40" Samsung UE40KU6020 is looking at bit out of place and small

Main use of the TV is Sky Q, PS4 Pro and watching blu-rays on

Have been looking at the below 3 options within price range of £400-600

Samsung UE49MU7000

Sony BRAVIA KD49XE7002

Samsung UE50MU6120

What are any recommendations or feedback you may have? Would be much appreciated

I do like the Samsung but the Sony seems to have good reviews.

I saw
SAMSUNG UE58MU6120 58" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV
for £570 the other day on the high street.

I was in the same boat this month too, current TV was the Samsung ue40d8000.

I decided to go for the LG 55SJ850v it was a little over your budget (£670) but it's a good TV that supports both HDR10 and Dolby Vision.

Nice looking TV, just did a quick google but seems to be showing up as unavailable in a lot of places now

Have a look at a 50n6800 from richer sounds. It offers everything those tvs you linked and more. It was one of the best buys last year. Just read some reviews about it and it will save you some money. (£399)

There isn't many places that have stock as it's the 2017 model, but PRC still have stock.

Anyone else want to chime in on this as I am in the same boat?

Is having only a 50hz panel really that noticeable in games? And also I’ve read unless you spend over a grand HDR ain’t really worth having is that also right?

I'm just in the process of trying to find a nice new TV stand to go with the new TV but i think at the moment I'll be going for the MU7000

There are, to the best of my knowledge, no TVs in the past couple of years at least with 50Hz panels. They're all 60 Hz (even though some lead you to believe they're 50).

You're pretty much right with HDR - the only improvement you'd get on a non FALD/OLED is support for wider colour gamut. Certainly not worth forking out extra 200 quid for.

However, TVs in the £700 bracket often come with other less distinct, but arguably more important, features, such as better anti glare coating, 120Hz panels for smoother 24 FPS playback. The Sony XE8596 even has support for 120Hz 1080P gaming!
