So,

The new G7 is out, based on the new E3 Xeons.

Does anyone plan to get any of these?

They seem so overpriced compared to the G6, which is only a fraction behind in its technical specs.

What are these new Xeons? Sandybridge but without the graphics?

You mean the ML110 G7?

They are Sandybridge based but Xeon E3 variants which end in a 5 do have HD graphics (eg 1235 and 1245), though HP don't list any for the ML110 G7. The dual core Pentium G620 / G840 / G850 are Sandybridge as well but CTO (Configure To Order) only.

As mentioned above, iLO3 is included now (instead of Lights Out 100i). You also get 2 x Gigabit NIC ports, with an optional dedicate iLO3 port. There's also the ability to upgrade it to have redundant PSUs.

Could someone change the thread title to ML110, I made a mistake. Danke.

Is ILO3 that much better than ILO100i with the advanced pack which gives you virtual media and KVM functionality. It seems to work pretty damn well.

Also the "base" model is much more expensive than the Xeon Base model on the G6 range too. In addition surely if it has support for dual supplies, it means the standard model ships with one? I did some checking around and the supplies are going to be noisey, as they are straight out of the DL range of servers!

There goes the idea of having a quiet mini server farm for the home.

(Ps, how come I have to wait for my posts to be moderated every time?! Its getting really annoying as nothing comes up for hours after I enter something)
