Hey

I was bought a new laptop by my parents as a 'well done' for helping so many people worldwide and to cut a long story short its pretty good, gig memory and amd turion64 x2

the only problem is it is on windows vista, i would rather run xp as vista appears to be pretty slow, aspecially shutting down and starting up.

Anyway i want to go on XP but this laptop did not come with a vista disc so if i deleted everything and reformatted to xp, how would i in the future if need be get my vista back? As obviously it is paid for.

Thanks.

Yes its possible, Install a fresh xp and when you want vista back it should let you register again , If not - ring microsoft and they will ask you some questions .. they ask.. Have you tryed registering this product before : Yes
how many machines is this copy of microsoft windows ---- installed on : One

Easy

Chances are that the reason you find it slow is because of there being so much pre-installed rubbish on there already. Tends to be a common thing for pre-built systems. If you had a Vista disc and were able to do a clean install, it's a sure thing that you'd find the machine to be much quicker.

Yeah it is annoying. I like Vista; ya'know. However it just lags, not terribly but i can tell if i had XP it would be twice as fast

i have a HP Pavillion 9030ea and have gone the other way(XP to Vista 64bit)
and it doesnt feel slower than xp at all.
mine has 2gig ram though so that helps more
