New HTPC Build - AMD or Intel ?

I've no alligience to one or the other

but my main PC is a Q6600

I was thinking possibly about going 9300 based mobo
+ a Q6700 (for encoding as well as playback)

but should I also be considering AMD ?

has to be a mATX board

yes amd mATX boards have good onboard gfx choices. and a e5200/7750x2 more than enough for job

and a 8XXX onboard VGA more than enough just need the DX10 suopport tbh if ur running vista/7

The AMD and Intel boards have pretty much the same onboard graphics but the new AM3 785 chipsets are coming out soon which might change things. Intels quads and AMD's quads are pretty similar too. Intel are usually a tad faster with AMD being cheaper. So basically find the best deal as both will be fine for HTPC and encoding duties. I know that probs didn't help much!

e5200 make a good HTPC chip, plenty of power, cool running, low power consumption...
