I'm about to replace my aging overclocked Athlon xp finally. But i want to replace it with a small form factor/sort of htpc.. special build coming up
I've decided not to go for one of the atom boards although i've been impressed with my 1.6ghz single core netbook. I'd like to be able to play some games, driving games mostly, but i've no idea of the specs needed to play games as i'm just used to assuming i cant play it
I need low heat output ideally as this case isn't going to have a lot of cooling.. 80mm output maybe
i'm looking provisionally at the I3 2.5ghz 35w chip. If that isn't powerful enough i won't go for a 65w dual i'll go for the 65w I5, but that's really going to push the cooling.
motherboard either a zotac or intel mini itx, probably 4gb ram
I'm assuming the intel HD graphics is good for movie playback but not much gaming. I don't have much spare space or cooling capacity so can anyone recommend a half decent graphics card that will play relatively new driving games, isnt a huge card (old agp size would be good), doesnt get hot and doesnt need heaps of power? the graphics card must have some form of rear exhaust cooling so the heat goes straight out rather than heating the case up. I've watercooled in the past but it isnt for this project although that would be monstrously cool lol
power supply either a 250w seasonic 1U or 400w 2U.
