I am looking for some advice on building a new rig. My current pc has shut down after many years of serving me well.

I have just bought the following: ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Motherboard (Socket 1155, DDR3, USB 3.0, Instant Boot Technology)
ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Motherboard (Socket 1155, DDR3, USB 3.0, Instant Boot Technology):
Intel Sandybridge i7-2600K Unlocked Core i7 Quad-Core Processor (3.40GHz, 8MB Cache, Socket 1155)
Corsair CML8GX3M2A1600C9 LP Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Memory Module Kit Corsair CML8GX3M2A1600C9 LP Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Memory Module Kit:
My son is giving me a Coolermaster RC1100 "Cosmos S" case
I already have sata hard drives, I am thinking of getting a Crucial 120 gig M4 for the c drive.

I would also welcome recommendations on a cooling system.

I have a copy of Windows 64bit Ultimate and a Blu Ray drive, plus a corsair 520w power supply, I have a cheap graphics card at the moment, I mainly want the pc for surfing the web, using photoshop etc, I am looking at building the rig so I can encode my BluRay discs etc to MKV format in super quick time. is my power supply etc enough to power the rig, is the Intel Sandybridge i7-2600K enough for me with it's on board graphics, also a cooler recommendation would be appreciated

psu will be fine for your current setup, onboard gpu shouldnt be a problem for encoding, but not sure about photoshop.

Update and thoughts on build:

i7-2600K Unlocked Core i7 Quad-Core
ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Motherboard
Corsair CML8GX3M2A1600C9 LP Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Memory
Silver Arrow CPU cooler
Crucial 120 gig SSD M4

After a lot off reading I am Thinking off adding the following:
2nd hand SAPPHIRE HD 6950 2GB GDD5, shorter card that can not be over locked.
Corsair Professional Series AX850 High Performance 850W Modular '80 Plus Gold' Power Supply! Or maybe bite the bullet and get the Corsair CMPSU-1200AXUK Professional Series Gold 1200W Power Supply" sell on my 540 watt supply" try and recoup some off the cost!
Corsair 800D " sell my cooler master case"

Thoughts welcome.

Cheers

Mark

if you don't plan on xfire then no need for 850w, even then with a 6950 xfire 750w is plenty.

you defo don't need 1kw+ unless wanting tri/quad fire.

with new graphics cards out in the coming weeks maybe worth waiting to see what the prices on the 6959/6970 are like, maybe able to a new 6950/6970 for a good price.

Would the Corsair CMPSU-1200AXUK Professional Series Gold 1200W Power Supply, be more future proofed, if I decide to upgrade in the future?

No because they're always working towards using less power for GPUs and CPUs. I have a 850w and run a i7 2600k with 580GTX in SLI with no problems.

Yea i'd go with the 850w. Remember to go with a good brand like Corsair, OCZ, Seasonic etc etc

I forgot to mention,I am planning too install at least 6-7 hard drives inside the case, do you still think that the 850 gold would be the better choice?

Just finished putting my new rig together it is flying, loving it.

Just need to add a good graphics card and some neons inside the case.

Any links to some led's that I can fit in my case?

I am also considering buying a ATI 6950 card for £165, is this wise, or should I wait?
