new i7 build

hi I have a budget of £1500 for a new build and have decided that the i7 is the way to go. I was originally going to build a tripple monitor setup but I decided to go for performance first and then upgrade to a tripple setup in a few months.

This system will be used for multitasking and gameing.

here is what I am thinking so far:

OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz @ 4.00GHz BUNDLE

BFG GeForce GTX 285 OCX 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Iiyama ProLite PLE2209HDS-B 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor

LG GGW-H20L Blu-Ray Rewriter & HD-DVD ROM Serial ATA Drive - Retail

Antec 1200 Twelve Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black (No PSU)

Antec CP 850W Modular Power Supply

Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103UJ)

Netgear WG311 54Mbps Wireless Desktop PCI Network Adapter

my questions are can this sytem be beaten on my current budget? can it be done any cheaper without losing any performance? can this sytem easily be upgraded to a tripple monitor rig by buying another SLI Ready graphics card and 2 more monitors?

thanks in advance

yes but i would drop the power supply to the 750W model 850W is a bit overkill likes

the rest of the build looks fine but a wireless card:(?

I was originally looking for a 750w psu but its more expensive the only other option is the 650w which is only £14 cheaper. Yea i need a wireless card as the pc is nowhere near a phone socket.

should I change the graphics card or not? I dont think the 4890 will be upgradeable in the future as the board isnt crossfire compatable thats why I have chosen a sli ready card

its modular:D mean less cables hanging about and it will cope with anything you throw at it:D the one u spec'd is good but u will probably still have a massive bunch of wires which u will need to work out where to shove:D

I have had another go and decided that I dont really need blue-ray yet so spent the xtra money on a bigger gfx card. but is it really worth spending the extra money on this card over the one I originally had?

here is the new spec:

Have you considered the Phenom2. You can buy so much more for your money and is very little speed difference for gaming than i7.
Unless you need to do loads of encoding of 3d design work, which the i7 trounces the phenom2, or you want an sli system. then the phenom 2 is seriously worth considering.

No I havent considered the phenom2 I just figured the i7 bundle was a good deal. What kind of spec could I have if I went for a phenom 2 instead? budget is still £1500.

I originally thought that the mobo was only sli ready and did not have crossfire support. now that i know it does have cross fire support would it be best to get 2 X 4890 instead of the bfg card?

Something like this 124GB ssd for os, 2TB for storage, blu-ray rewriter, dvd rewiter. 2x 4890..I assume there's no difference between sli and cf power connectors. Could always forget vista and pre-order w7. Could also downscale a few things and get 8GB of ram in budget if you wish.

It does look like i will get a lot more for my money if i take the phenom option option. but since they are both good spec pc's how do i decide?

So basically your saying there is very little performance between those two specs? Im not sure if I need all that hard drive space but ssd would run a lot faster? would i need to use raid0?
