"Big 3" upgrade from Q6600, Asus P5Q Pro 6GB DDR2
Using Noctua Noctua NH-U9B SE2 (not the 12) to cool my CPU.

Looking to get 3750k Ivy and will be happy with an overclock of 4.5Ghz.

Will my existing Noctua cooler be sufficient you think?
Its an upgrade to a gaming HTPC build using a Silverstone LC17 case, big for an htpc but possibly limited in height regarding big air coolers.

Spending much wonga on upgrades already, hoping not to spend any more!

thanks. :)

The NH-U12P SE2 won't fit in the LC17 case. Max cooler height for the LC17 = 130mm and the NH-U12P is ~150mm.

the cooler would keep your CPU cool though.

Doh,what a diddy!, typo in original post.
I currently have the Noctua NH-U9B SE2 in my LC17 case cooling the Q6600, not the 12.

It should be fine, aslong as you have a 1156 mounting bracket.

Make sure you don't get RAM with big heatsinks (vengenge) as they may clash.

Thanks for that, helpful.

Know what you mean about the Vengence, on my work PC I had to remove the heat spreader on one to get the cooler to fit.
Lesson learned...I'll be buying low profile ram for my htpc upgrade.

The 1156 mounting bracket you mention, just checked there and my cooler mounting plate is 1156 compatible.
Sweet, sounds like I dont have to get a new cooler. :)

thanks for the help guys
