New iiyama 22"

Hi Folks :)
I'm also interested in this monitor. I see that it's already available on some european sites. Tried to find some reviews, but no luck as yet. The price seems pretty good for a 22" I see that it uses a TN panel, but which one? Any info would be great.
Somebody out there knows! :D

certainly TN Film, quite possibly the Hannstar 22" HSD220MKW1-A. That's the only one which matches the spec of the screen, it doesn't match the Samsung, LG.Philips or CMO offerings. I will see if i can get some clarification

Thanks Baddass :)
Will keep on looking for info on the web. but I have a feeling that they are just jumping on the band wagon, and trying to seduce people by the size and price of the monitor. I don't think there's anything new or special here.
But, you never can tell! :D

no, nothing new really but there is a big push in the 22" market. In fact Samsung have recently said that they are only going to continue to concentrate on 19", 22" and 24" panels and Meko (LCD trends and market research co.) think other manufacturers like LG.Philips will follow suit and these will be the main 3 diagonals in the near future

Too true. Goodbye to the 15" and 17". I've been using a 19" WS for 6 months now. Before that I was using a 19" CRT and the difference was amazing! Now I think it's to small. I just hope they don't keep on upping the size. Otherwise I will have to get a new office to fit the size of my monitor :D
Next purchase, Dell or Benq 24" Will wait and see :D

Baddass,
Do you think it's worth jumping to a 24" rather than a 22" ?
I see on the forums that you use the 2405 Dell. what monitor did you use before that? And was there a great difference from that to your present monitor?

Just trying to justify buying a 24" mate :)

before the 2405FPW I had an old 17" AOC LM720a and so it was a massive jump up from that to 24" for sure. As well as the size and res increase i moved from TN Film to PVA as well, which was a big change.

I've used quite a few 20" models and they are certainly adequate, but it was always a big jump (and still is) when ever i hook my 24" 2405FPW back up afterwards :) The 22" > 24" wont be as big a jump size wise but there is a nice increase in resolution in the 24" sector. If you can afford a 24" then i'd recommend taking a good look at them, you wont regret it i'm sure :)

Physically looks very similiar to the Belinea, but it comes with DVI and is claiming to do 16.7 colours.
Look in the pdf manual on the site, under specifications it says:

Display Colors: Approx. 16.7M (6bit+2bit dithering)

Yeah, all the widescreen 19" and 22" screens use 16.2M colour (6 bits per colour plus dithering) TN+Film panels so far.

Iiyama have informed me this model uses an AU Optronics TN Film panel. I've not seen anything about such a panel from AUO, so it must be new :) will see if i can get a part number too

Sounds interesting. I wonder if there are any other manufacturers using this panel in new products?
Thanks for the work Baddass :)

possible the Belinea is as well, but not sure. Given that AUO don't even have a panel listed in their range at this size, it must be very new. I'm checking with AUO about it to see if i can get any information. Will let you know if i do :)

Picked my iiyama 22" WS-B late this afternoon and only just had time to start using it......awesome so far, upgraded from a 19" VX912.
