New iMac 2.88 V 2 Years old 2.16 MacBook Pro

I am wondering will I see a nice different in speed such as Less beach ball and smoother performance doing aperture with the New iMac 2.88 over my 2 Years old Macbook Pro 2.16 as What I am trying to weigh up is either getting a nice new imac that can do everything which would include a nice 24" screen. Or get a Screen for my Macbook Pro.

3gb ram even though I dont use it all when I am editing

As someone who owned a 2.16Ghz MBP I think you would see a worthwhile difference in speed.

Personally, I don't think the 2.16Ghz model was really up to scratch for proper Leopard performance. If you're running Tiger, I found it to be fine with that.

Just started a thread on this and did not notice this reply till after.

Are you using Tigar then? also do you use aperture or any photography software?

You any other system in your household to compare?
