New imac RAM upgrade

I want to upgrade my shiny new aluminum imac. It comes with a 1GB single stick and i want to add another gig. Would another single (crucial) gig stick be compatible or do i need a matched pair?

I was thinking of getting of getting a cheap £30 upgrade to 2gigs now and then whacking 4 gigs in the future (maybe when RAM drops even more in price).

A single stick will do just fine.

If you're going to whack 2x2GB in there in the future then yeah, a single 1GB stick is perfectly fine for now.

Aye 1 stick will be fine

and there's only 1 screw now to access the Ram slots!

Sorry to hijack the thread but it is sort of related!
Does the old iMac 20" Core 2 Duo come with a matched pair of 512Mb sticks or one 1Gb stick?
Going to upgrade to 3Gb and need to know if I'm going to be wasting the RAM I've already got.

The previous versions came with matched pairs. It's only the new ones that come with a slot empty, to my knowledge.
