When is the next generation of iMac's due out and what normally changes with them?

thinking about buying one in the near future coming from a pc anything else I should be aware of?

Mac rumors is your best reference as it has a buyers guide based on life cycle. I don't think one is due for a while yet, possibly around the same time or after the launch of Lion, but I would expect it to be minor - sandybridge and thunderbolt. Form factor will remain identical I imagine.
