New Impreza mock up shown

Someone please tell me this is a joke?

Sadly, I think this is truly the "new-look" Impreza.

Think we now know where Saddams Weapons of Mass Destruction are?

Not content with shooting themselves in the foot, Subaru seem to want to wipe their appendage from the planet!

I quite like the look of it, except the front which looks like a Mazda 323 (think that's the model), about time they made it a hatchback although I think a new/change of name would be appropriate as it's clearly different from imprezas of old.

That does nothing for me at all. If it comes out looking like that they may as well just kill it off.

I quite like it. I also like the EVO X although it looks like a Honda Accord from the back.[/QUOTE]

That on the other hand, isn't bad.

Looks better than the hatch but still nowhere near as cool as classic scoobs

Subaru will use the 2007 New York Auto Show this month to showcase the high-performance 2008 Impreza WRX. One of the most notable exterior changes is the replacement of the wing-inspired grille with a more conventional grille that still recalls the company's aviation background.

Mechanically, the 2008 WRX also gets a number of improvements. The vehicle's wheelbase has grown 3.7 inches and double-wishbone rear suspension improves handling and ride.

The car's revised 2.5 liter inline-four continues to offer 224 horsepower and 226 pound-feet of torque, with peak levels arriving a lower 5,200 rpm and 2,800 rpm, respectively.

Subaru says the new Impreza WRX offers more interior room as well as increased trunk space. In addition to chassis and suspension improvements, the new car has an overall lower center of mavity, further improving handling.

At least we now know what happened to Daewoo's work in progress designs when Chevrolet took over. Bleah.... Just looks like a typical cheap Korean run around that your average pensioner is tripping over themselves to buy :o

Oh dear, what have they done. :(

I can appreciate why they have gone for a hatchback varient from a rallying perspective, with most WRC cars now being smaller hatchbacks the scoob was beginning look a bit out of place with that big old arse swinging about.

But damn, this new car looks like the ******* offspring of a Daewoo and a Seat. :(

I recon the new one looks awesome, if they didnt call it am impreza i bet most of you would like it :p
I guess subaru wanted a change from the old recurring sallon so they made it a hatch to spicy things up a bit. I recon its an astra+1 series+dawoo

I see what you're saying about the rally cars but without selling road cars they won't be able to fund the rally team. With a car as poorly styled as this they'll struggle to do that, especially faced with the Evo X.

Exactly. I have no problem with them making a hatch version, but it could have looked so much better. I really like the pics Eddscott posted on page one of this thread, that's how it should look :(
