New install help

My friend has a laptop which the cd-drive has stopped working however he needs to reinstall windows on it. What's the easiest way of doing this without butchering my laptop to get the drive out and into his?

An external CD Drive, maybe?

It shouldn't be too hard to get your drive out of your laptop, providing they're the same model, of course?

laptop drives are usually super easy to remove (often just 1 screw if that)
