Never had this before, basically half way through (40-55%) operating system install on a new HDD (WD250GB) the install halts on a
Cannot copy the file XXXXX
This isn't a scratched / damaged OS install disc issue as this is about the fourth different disc I've tried to install
I've tried XP home, XP pro, others on different service packs, a couple of dell reinstall discs and also Vista 32 bit (but that was on a hiding to nowhere with 512mb of RAM
Wouldn't be so bad if it was my own PC but it's a mates.
If I try skipping the file, it blue screens with differing errors.
This time it's " STOP XXXX ntfs.sys address stamp etc etc
Any suggestions on where to start?
I think I'm going to have the HDD out, slap it in a caddy and run some tests on it
