Hi there,

I've been doing a bit of research on the net and on here, as my girlfriend has just moved to a new flat and wants to get a new connection.

The Virgin website says she is in a cable modem area, but both the samknows site and dslzoneuk say that cable is not in her area. What do you think is going on there?

When you have cable installed, what is actually done physically? She is in a flat, so would she still be able to have it there? Do they put a new box in your premises?

BE Unlimited is available in her area, and she is only 620 metres from the exchange. Would she be better off going with that?

Thanks.

The problem with some type of flats i.e. a big house split into flats rather than purpose built is that its counted as a single address as far as Virgin are concerned.
Only one connection from the road will be allowed so if anyone else is already connected then unless they are prepared to share the cost with you it won't be viable. Our daughter has a seperate flat in our house but they won't allow us a seperate account

Thanks for the replies. I don't think she is worried about having the TV and phone etc. I think she'd be better off with BE as I have read a few bad things about Virgin (foreign call centres, 25p/min helpline etc - is this true?). Her only real reason for going with Virgin is because she's heard of them.

The flat numbers are individually listed on the Virgin site and it's a purpose built block so I think she would be OK with cable.
