New iPhone this summer

It's widely accepted that there will be at least an update to the iPhone this year, most bets are on a 32GB model.

There's a lot of stuff on it in the Mac Hardware forum, for some reason the iPhone threads get moved there. :)

surely the iphone is a mobile, hence there should be some iphone threads in here! Doesnt make sense at all.

I agree, many people in here will find iphone discussion interesting, even if they want bog all to do with anything else Mac.

Really, it fits in both categories.

The iPhone discussion in Mac hardware makes no more sense than Smartphone discussion in General hardware

True, i'm going to start posting WM questions in software..

I think it is because threads on the iPhone usually end up in fan wars, with the op usually stating he wants an iPhone and any other phone suggestions being shouted down by the iphone fans, then others going at them...

As for the op's question from what I gather the idea is a "basic" cheaper one (nano) will be released and the one out now updated with more memory and more features, like bluetooth transfer and MMS, and possibly some kind of multitasking ability.

Its a mobile, not a computer, I really cant see the confusion.
At any rate I dont see why there cant be threads allowed in both, doesnt add up.

'Apple Hardware'
'Apple Mac, iPod and iPhone discussion.'

Thats correct. But so is:

"Mobile Phones"
"What's hot, what's not and other questions regarding mobile phones."

Last time I checked, the iphone was a mobile phone.

Moving all iPhone threads to the Apple hardware forums just perpetuates the stereotype that Apple fans are elitist ****ers removed from reality.

Which certain isn't an accurate description for the majority of Apple fans that I know. :)

This is a spy shot of the new iPhone!

But we are elitists?

mines a fashion acessory 1st and mobile 2nd, got a computer for my computing but it doesnt look nice laid on the desk/table infront of me wherever i go

i dont see why iphone threads actually get moved from forum to forum though. they fit in with either so surely theyd be fine wherever the OP decided they want it ?

would feel a bit shafted by a massive hardware update this summer since i only just got it but im wondering what they could add to it hardware wise and im not coming up with much.

hopefully it will just be 32gb versions/coloured versions and a nice software update

That's why I couldn't find my thread in the mobile phones section, it doesn't make sense.

I'll just wait for a little longer and see what happens as my contract expires in June, so have a few months to go.

Yes but some Apple owners don't like the nasty wasty people who don't own Macs as well as iPhones.

My guess is they will indeed bump the storage up to 32GB, upgrade to a 3.2MPixel camera, use an ARM Cortex processor, same screen and invent a new connection to bleed an extra tenner off everyone for new docks.
