I have just got a new iphone having had the 3g for a while.

Is there any way to copy everything currently on my old 3 and copy it directly across onto my new 4?

Probably an obvious way to do it but I don't know it

so backup old phone in itunes, connect new phone and then it will impress these settings on the new phone? (not being deliberately dense just not sure

)

plug old phone in, right click it in the pane on the left, click backup.

plug in new phone right click restore and tell it you want to restore it from the backup it made

Yes, you might have to restore the new phone though and select to restore from backup. Never quite sure with with these, but don't see why it wouldn't work..

Maybe wait for someone who's done it, to confirm

Ah much appreciated I got it!

Had to backup old phone, get new phone which I had to restore factory settings then restore that phone from backup file of my older phone. Roundabout but I got there
