new ipod hard drive?

basically my ipod is knackered. i went to apple and they said that the hard drive has flunked it, so either replace that or buy a new ipod. should i replace the hard drive and wait for something else to go wrong or buy a new ipod? the only thing is that its a 40GB iphoto and i love it, it's proper old skool-it can't be replaced coz they don't make that model anymore

You can get replacement HDDs from ebay and other sites on the net. You can either send it off or do it yourself: a lot of places will sell you some tools for removing the metal cover, its a bit of a **** to get off though.
