Thought I'd treat myself to a new iPod Nano today, the last iPod I had was a 2nd gen classic, and fancied something smaller.

It is VERY small and super light and the screen is surprisingly good.

Can anyone tell me if iTunes is fully DRM free now or only certain record labels?

Cheers

Those Compact Disc things are pretty sweet. CDDA, 1411 kbps, DRM free, clean conversion to whatever format(s) you like, physical copy. Just saying :p

Is it even thinner depth than the nano fatty or whatever you choose to call the last gen (3rd gen) nano?

I'll be getting a new nano soon, just need to sell my old one first. Gonna get either a blue or green one I think, black is boring :p

Seems like regression to me re. size.

It's considerably smaller than the 3rd gen though while having more features.

3G -

69.8 x 52.3 x 6.5 mm

Weight - 49.2g

4G -

90.7 x 38.7 x 6.2 mm

Weight - 36.8g

It may be the same form factor as the older ones but it's not the same size.

Dunno why my names in that quote btw as I didn't say that.

It's not considerably smaller than the 3rd gen at all, don't know why you're saying that, takes one look to realise its not. What I said was that it was the same size as the 2nd gen pretty much, which I have sitting infront of me and the measurements match up apart from the screen size.

Sound quality is supposed to be as good as the iPod Classics, so better than the Nano 3G - but still not amazing.

I've just ordered a 16gb Nano, fancied something smaller to carry around than my Classic. Was hoping for a 32gb Nano to be announced, but I should be able to make do with 16gb :)
