Hi,

I recently changed my ISP when i moved address.. i was with Be Unlimited and now i have moved over to UK online (as BE wont cover my exchange). My line has been activated by UK online.. but my Bebox dosnt seem to like it..

It keeps reporting its "connecting" to the DHCP. Should a Bebox work ok with any ISP or do Be modifiy the firmware to only work with there setting etc?

Otherwise what could be causing this issue?

Have you entered your username/password? The Bebox is set by default to connect without one...

You'll prob also find a Billion 740 or even a Netgear DG834GT would work better.

O right.. not sure my Bebox even has the option for a username and password.. And i have no idea what my user name and password is for my UKonline account

I am pretty sure the BeBox firmware is modified for the Be network as well so I dont think it will work as intended on any other ISP.

I may be wrong though!

I think your right BE have removed a lot of options.. So i'll get myself a new router at lunchtime.. is the:

Linksys WAG160N 300Mbps Wireless-N ADSL router any good? (as a large supermarket near me have plenty in stock and at a good price)

I don't know if you know this or not but you're meant to return your bebox within 28 days after your contract ends or else they'll debit you £100 for it.

Can't say I agree with that tbh. You don't own the box, you were leasing it and they expect it back. It will have said this in one of the letters you had too.

To be fair though what letters? They never once sent me any mail.. i had to phone up and get it all sorted by customer support as they said all my mail bounced back claiming my home address didn't exist.. I even had to collect the box myself, as they said it couldnt be delivered.

Anyway if it make you any happier i have put it in the post this afternoon :) damn my good honest nature.
