Currently on the 2mb Nildram product which costs 22.99pm

Below is the status from my router and Nildram says that the product I have is "upto 2mb" According to the BT ADSL Checker I get:
BT said:
Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a line rate up to 2Mbps.

Our test also indicates that your line should be able to support a potential ADSL Max broadband line rate of 4.5Mbps or greater.

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1152 kbps 288 kbps
Line Attenuation 56 db 15.5 db
Noise Margin 17 db 26 db

Ideally I don't want to increase my monthly spend but ever since I moved house and have had to have ADSL, was a cable man before, I've found the service quite poor.

Can anyone recommend any alternatives?

How far away are you from your local exchange?

Also Bt have said Up To , it doesn't mean you will achieve this speed

Yes this is very true i,m on the Nildram 8meg service ,but i only get anything from 5.9 to 6.2 meg ,which i have been told ib here and by friends that it is very good . ;) you won,t get 2meg service ,what you will get is a service that will be anything upto 2meg ..

the BT line tests are BS imo.

My test said i could have upto 3mb yet my second line said i could have upto 5mb!

The first line is the one i kept for my new UKFSN service and currently have a solid sync of 5.5mb.
