I've a decent academic background behind me, some sales experience right at the sharp end, and have built and kept sorted a few rigs nothing to blow any form of trumpet about on these forums...I apply to a software company who make bespoke stock control software as telephone support.

Got rejected. Then I speak to the office manager and get told that a new vacancy has come up...

involve application support for in-house staff, support for our in-house internet messaging service and the day to day maintenance, administration and troubleshooting involved in running our in-house EDI Bureau – a bureau which forms a link between suppliers and customers and transmits documents of different formats and standards by electronic means

I have never touched a server in my life, nor have I bs'd them...my cv goes no further than strong it, so I think they are looking primarily at my potential rather than where I am at right now, but I really want the job, I enjoy IT and it is in demand.

Put simply, I could walk in there tomorrow with all kinds of assumptions, but what should I expect they want from me- I am an industry novice and if someone who works IT for a living sees this...well, any tips?
