Well, my job at Abbey National lasted about 4 months before the work started to run low.. i decided that office work wasnt for me and thought i should get out of there before i get changed to another department..

So tomorrow i start a job at Hilton Hotel in Bradford as a hotel porter. I actually cant wait, i did this job down south in a hotel for around 5-6 months and i loved it, the best job ive had so far. When working before i actually saw myself taking charge of a department of having a certain role thats needed and that ive been prmoted too, hopefully i can do it at Hilton, im a hard worker and i want to be something high in a company.. so.. you never know.

Ill be doing general hotel jobs, ill be active, setting up rooms and functions working long hours, fixing things, transporting bags and boxes, helping departments that need help, bar, restaurant etc..

I want to be highly trained and get a lot of experience, i want to learn and do as much as i can to make me look like a good worker.. So hard work it is.

I like catering and Hilton have promised good prospects and qualifications which has spured me into working there.

Monthly pay on the 1st of every month, easy bus route and places to go for my dinner as its rite in the centre of Bradford.

So yeah, thought id tell people about my new job and how excited i am to be doing it.

a lot of people here have really good jobs and will probably look down at me for taking this position, but i enjoyed doing it before, so if i enjoy it why not do it?

:)

James.

Don't be silly dude. Sounds like a great job and i'm sure you'll do well in it. So long as you're happy with what your doing who cares with what others think :)

Congrats on your new job! I know where the Hilton is since I'm orginally from Bradders. Smack bang in the middle opposite the town hall. Just a shame the city isn't so good, at least Leeds is next door :)

Im just so happy that im back in the trade, and the wage is good, 11500 before tax, bout 9.5 there after, although the wage isnt that big a deal to me as its just going into savers seeing as i live at home with my mum..

at least Leeds is next door :)

Aye well inside its really nice, really didnt expect it to look as good as it did seeing as its Bradford.

Id hope to work at the one in Leeds or one of there big Hotels in a few years when im qualified and have a lot of experience.. Bigger, faster pace, more work etc.. I'd love it.

Plus i love how active Leeds is.

First days suck. Tomorrow will be my fourth day in a new job. The job itself isn't the problem, but it's such a pain having to deal with so many new people / finding your bearings etc.

You get instuctions like "Go get the r15T and take it to Janette in department 12".

Excuse me what???

I still feel like the clueless "new boy". :/

My dad's friend worked as a mechanic for 20 years. Left, joined a hotel as someone around the same level as you and went up through the company. He's in charge of a load of hotels in the North West now.

Put your mind to something and you'll work your way up.

Good luck!

Lol, true but I cannot wait for my first day of my internship. It's the job I'm hoping to for the rest of my career. The one I've been going through education for. First two weeks are usually the best at a new job. Can get a way with things you do wrong :p

No one can judge you, however patronising some people are, you have a right to do what you want to do, and to enjoy it.

So the best of luck to you matey :) hope all goes well.

Cheers lads, appreciate it.

My intentions exactly, i can do it if i put my head to it i know i can, i know how to act in a hotel so thats not an issue, i dont make mistakes often as i learn from the one si do make, and i tend to be confident in my work so that obviously helps.

I know people that have done it, i know people that have done it and not aimed for it, so if im aiming, who knows...

I just want to start working atm, ive b een off nearly 2 weeks and i am SO bored its unreal, cant wait for tomrrow.

Hope you have fun, my current part time job I've had for 6 years. The pays rubbish but if you enjoy it, thats what counts i find. Start my new job in 2 months today actually =/ after uni can't wait..
