New job, working current notice - Feeling Down

technically your boss hasnt done anything wrong even if it does feel he is being a complete a**hole and the workmates of yours are probably just ****ed cause youve managed to escape ... as frar as plling a sicky is concerned why worry what do you owe the company anyway? your just a number to them as has been proven so dont feel that you owe tham anything take what you can and sod the conscience

Sounds bad but at least you're leaving it very soon eh :D

I'm still on my notice period, exactly 2 weeks left! Nothing has been restricted though as the network is mine anyway so it can't be restricted ¬_¬

Are you not having a break from work for a week or two after finishing?

If you was that good of an employee and they let you go so easily then count it as a big loss for them. Ride the last few weeks out remembering you are going to go further than anyone else there working there on your floor. There's some obvious envy going around, just ignore it and smile to yourself inside.. count down the days :)

Thanks all. My god, I've just say for 3 and a half hours completing invoices at someone elses computer because I haven't got access. I then though... What would stop me copying the contents of one of the drives now that I'm at a computer which has access. I mean, bit pointless blocking my computer from accessing the drive but letting my do my invoices and another computer with complete access. My boss is such a ***** and it annoys me so much. Thing is, I obviously wouldn't copy the contents of the drive as I'm not like that and there is no important info on it anyway. Why does my boss think I'm leaving?... to go to a bigger firm obviously so why would I worry about some ****** information that he holds on a drive? He doesn't have a clue!

I can't take garden leave as the office would be too busy without me (I know!).

I haven't got any holidays to take and I currently owe 2.5days which will come out of my final pay.

I've emailed my new employer asking if they need a reference and if they reply saying that they don't then I might just take a few sick days :)

I got a new job recently and I'm currently working my four weeks notice in my current job, due to finish on 06th April 2012. Well, when I handed my notice in a week ago, my boss restricted my access to our work server which has 'important information' on and he also removed my access so that I couldn't get into the invoicing system. This really p'd me off but I can kind of sort of understand why he did it as he got burnt in the past but I can't help but feel kind of unwanted at the minute, it's really making me feel down and other colleagues aren't talking to me.

Also, I was always the person who had the office keys as I was first one in and last one out. We don't start until 9am but I was always at work ready to open up and switch all the computers on at 8am as I dropped my mum into work on my way, she started earlier than I did so It thought it would be best to start working early each day rather than going home again. Anyway, my boss took the keys off me and now I have to sit outside for 45 or so mins to wait on the office being opened.

Sorry, I know some people will find this stupid but I've been working here almost three years and because I handed my notice in, I feel like I'm dirt :(

just starting acting like a knob and they will stick you on garden leave - it sounds like they should have done that anyway.... bonus!

Do/did you get on with your boss.

To be honest he's probably p*ssed of at losing a valuable member of his team.

Go speak to him.

Lay cards on the table. As a boss you can sometimes take it personally when someone wants to leave. Especially if they were the type that you'd never sack. The type you wish all your employees were.

Plus its a right pain in the backside finding new staff (yes even in todays climate maybe even more so as there are more numpty's to check out)

Have a chat tell him why your leaving (unless its because your doing his mrs and can't face him the next day). Tell him you'd love to be able to keep doing the job as well as you always have right upto the last day. As you never know one day you both might need each other (In a professional business type of way. Not in a cuddle me its cold situation)

I spoke to him when I handed my notice in and he said that he would never stop a young man (I'm 24) trying to achieve a better position for his career etc. I do get on with him but he's the type of guy that doesn't really have a clue and we have clashed in the past but nothing too serious.

It wouldn't be smart to do something that would ruin a chance of a reference and on the plus side the 3 and a half weeks will be gone before you know it. Take a book for in the mornings, or a paper and be glad that you're moving on to something better shortly :)

Or, I could get a reference and then act stupid :)

Yeah this. Remember 2 bank hols too, so subtract those days off the countdown assuming it's a Mon-Fri job.
