Hi all,

I currently have a Saitek Eclipse keyboard which has had a fair battering for a few years now so its time to replace it. What would you recommend? Been looking at the Saitek Eclipse 2 which looks nice and a good price too. A few of my mates have been saying "Buy the G15, nothing else!!" The things putting me off this is the size and the price tag  but if its that much better I might be persuaded.

Any help would be appreciated. I use it mainly for playing FPS games and the odd bit of typing.

Thanks:)

The G15 we have stock of is not that big (the orange light version) the older, end of life, G15 (blue one) was large indeed, but I have a G15 Rev 1. Blue version, I am yet to find a keyboard that is better than this.

The other option for FPS gaming is a bog standard keyboard with a G13 for gaming on, they take a bit of getting used too, but once you have they are the best gaming tool available.

I've got a razer tarantula which i picked solely on the fact that it had the anti ghosting for the keys. If you find the keyboard yells at you when playing fps and starts beeping like mad i would suggest it. If you need macros saved for your gaming i would still well clear of it as they are **** poor and can only store upto 8 commands in a row.

Lookswise I can't fault it, the sleek black finish and ambient blue glow is quite nice although it does smudge easily.

I own both the Eclipse 2 and the g15 :) they are the same width so don't worry about the size (as long as it's the new G15 stocked here)

The G15 is a better keyboard but you'll not be dissapointed by either. (the g15's extra features are situational but the screen is a nice touch :) )

Another shout for the G15 here. IMO it beats the tarantula purely becase the G15 has backlit keys. And it has anti-ghosting capabilities as well.

I ordered a Logitech Wave today as the space bar on my OCZ Elixia II takes two or three presses to register. Whilst the Logitech may not be the best gaming keyboard in regards to macros and flashy lights, it is meant to be very comfortable to use.

I thought about going for the G15, but just couldn't justify the extra over the Eclipse II for what I use it for (playing FPS') and I'm happy with it.

If I still played Eve I'd probably stretch to the G15 though, for the macro's etc/

I'm looking at getting a G13 for the programmable keys.

I currently use a Wolf King

in addition to a comfortable normal keyboard for working on. The wolf king is pretty good is you have the extra desk space for 2 devices and dont have a need for macros.
It looks very "meh" but the key layout is prefect for FPS games.

I wonder how well this would actually work?

G15, the screen is very handy also my Rev 1 has lasted me for 2 years maybe 3 ? got it when it was not out for long

I've heard good things about the Razer Lycosa (the Rubber keys version)

I plan to buy that.. but that looks like a good replacement for your Saitek Eclipse.. shame OcUk don't stock it! :p

Thanks for all your input. The razer tarantula looks awesome but no way am I spending that much on a keyboard. I have a wolfking jobbie for my laptop :) Not sure if the Eclipse 2 would be massively different from the Eclipse I have now but dont know if I need all the features of the G15.

Decisions, decisions...

Thanks for you comments I went for the Eclipse 2. Couldn't really justify the extra for the G15. Also I loved my Eclipse! Also only cost me £3.80 odd from OCUK as I get free delivery and got a £30 voucher for Christmas I hadn't spent yet :)

i have just purchased the Razor alcosa i got it cause it was a cheaper option
its a good keyboard with all the features you would expect of a gaming board with half the price tag.

however if i had the extra cash i would definatley go towards the logitech g range they look sweet.

got a deathadder mouse to go with the board too and that rocks :)
