In the market for a new keyboard and mouse currently using a basic logitec keyboard with what was at the time a top notch m1000 wireless mouse

not really looked at changing for a while but could do with a new backlight board for night gaming while the missus is in bed and thought it might be time to change both

So what are the recommendations and top players these days?#

EDIT: Should really say this is for diablo 3 / UT Star Trek Online and a few others of mixed gaming so needs to me all round, also I have quite small hands

the last lot cost me over hundred quid and have lasted me really well tbh I dont really have one as long as the kit is worth it, think vfm over cost, if you really want one though lets say up to a couple hundred

for reference ive been looking at the qpad 85 and the leetgion hellion

couple of hundred on a mouse and keyboard?! Yikes, looking at a full top notch razer set right there!

Id recommend the Razer Lachesis as a mouse, has one for around 4 years now and not had a single problem with it, great for games!

Cant really comment on keyboards.

well as said budget is flexible i dont want to spend a couple of hundred on a set when spending a hundred will do just as good a job but looking at the full mechanical keyboards im thinking id see a much greater improvement for the extra money

Sidewinder X4
Qpad MK60
Corsair K90
Qpad MK85

G400
G500
Deathadder
Corsair M60
Zowie AM GS (like a Intellimouse 1.1).
CM Spawn (small mouse).

Mechanical keyboards are noisy. The X4 looks like a good candidate. Alternatively the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard K800. Although I'm not sure about their gaming capabilities (key ghosting). I have LIK, and have no problems, but it's an older model.

G400 is a great all rounder. It's the successor to the MX518.

hmm tbh liking the look of the g9x and g510 combo at the moment might go that route as I know the logitech build and reliability cheers though guys

what do people think of the cyborg v7 and R.A.T mice?

I have a R.A.T 3 mouse and I think it’s great. Mind you I had a stock dell mouse before so anything would probably be great in comparison. The R.A.T 3 fits my hand well, the buttons are laid out decently and all of them can be found and pressed easily and comfortably. It has 3 programmable modes that can be switched via a button on the mouse, which is nice not having to open software to change profiles. Changing to the R.A.T improved my aim in games as well. I would say the 3 was well worth the money. I couldn’t justify the costs of the 7 though.

Not all mechanical keyboards are noisy Cherry switches brown and black are not noisy for example. I couldn't recommend a mech keyboard more. So much better for typing and gaming. There are so many more to choose from now.

I'd go for these - don't have the keyboard but have the Deathadder and love it:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Steelseries 7G Gaming Mechanical Keyboard (64018) £99.98
1 x Razer DeathAdder Respawn 3500 DPI Xtreme Precision Gaming Mouse - Retail £44.99
Total : £155.47 (includes shipping : £8.75).

The keyboard looks good but I need one thats backlit otherwise I might as well stick with what ive got

I would go for the Logiteck g500 and the Qpad MK-85. You can assign any key to any function on the MK-85 and you can switch between different profiles too. The K90 could be good if you need dedicated marco keys but not all the keys are mechanical.

If that is too costly then the Sidewinder X4 or Logitech G110 would fit the bill. The only warning I would give on the sidewinder x4 is that it has a smaller key spacing which some people get used to quickly and others (like me) couldn't deal with.
