Hi guys, recommend me some new keyboards!

I am looking at the Das keyboards.

Had my Saitek Eclipse since 2006 so I think I can justify a replacement considering 5 of the keys have died. It's had liquids spilled on it countless times, really is a well built keyboard, but I don't enjoy typing on it at all.

Budget of £40-£110.

Do you know which switches the MK50 uses? I definetally want blue ones, I wouldn't like blacks or reds as much.

I like the Cherry G80, the Das Keyboard Model S but can't find them anywhere...this wasn't the case a few months ago.

Saitek Eclipse has been a decent keyboard.

MK-50 uses brown switches, which may be ideal for gaming, will definetally put this at the top of my list.

Slightly above your budget but well worth it.

Filco Majestouch with a choice of full or tenkeyless, switch colours and different keycaps should you desire.

I've also been looking at getting a new keyboard, personally i am looking to get the qpad mk-85, the qpad mk-80 has blue switches, and looks very nice!

That keyboard is so simple it looks perfect. I would go for the brown, ergonomic switch myself, as the noise of blue may annoy people including myself. :D Must choose between the £120 and £62 one now.

I don't think the mk-85 is worth the money, considering it doesn't seem a lot different to the mk-50, just lights and connectivity from what I can gather.

Yeah they are all very similar, just different switches. I am defo getting the mk-85 at some point as i hear the Reds are good for gaming, and Ive seen one in action, very nice strong keyboards. I need the backlit too, I would go for the mk-80 but heard the switch activation point is a bit rubbish for games.

An additional point. Premium no nonsense boards like Filcos have Cherry switches under EVERY keycap.

Most of these new generation gaming orientated boards use cheap domes on some keys (Function keys for example). Less used perhaps but still a cheap compromise. Sort of a crapper when your mech switches are still going perfectly strong and a function key packs in!

Thanks for that Sin, I realised some cheat and don't fully use switches. I am most likely going to get a Filco or Das at the moment. Especially if MK-50's seem to have random switches available. ^^

AFAIK only the Corsair K90 / K60 do this.

My MK-50 from OCUK uses reds.

Aye, I looked at this keyboard myself, but no back lighting?
The Qpads are awesome quality, I will be getting one for sure when I get paid :D

Unless someone can find something similar with the N function, back lighting Cherry Red switches. Red's are preferred for gaming, am i right, or is it personal preference?

I use the daskeyboard silent model (it's not really silent at all, I dread to think what the normal ones sound like) I can't see myself wanting to use another keyboard again! Was a bit sketchy at first having not owned a mechanical keyboard, but REALLY glad I took the plunge as typing/gaming on it is quite awesome :)

No backlighting - man am I sick of hearing about backlighting! It's a keyboard, not a christmas tree :P

Most gaming keyboards have blacks. Both reds and blacks are linear switches, making them the easiest transition for someone coming from a membrane keyboard. Reds require less force than blacks. I tried blacks in a store and they felt a bit stiff, so went with reds. But there are occasions when I think reds are slightly too light - somewhere in the middle would probably suit everyone.

Is it such a problem to be hearing of "backlighting"? As you may not need or be bothered of the option, where as someone else might!? It is something I DO require, so therefore I point this out in my posts. So please think of others needs before being sick of hearing others requirements :P

Cheers
