The other day my keyfob for my Ford Fiesta (03) stopped working - can't remote lock / unlock. I changed the battery - still no luck.

I spoke to Ford who said the keyfob was probably faulty and needed replacing.

I was then told it would cost £143!!

Do Ford have me over a barrel on this one? are there any alternatives?

Thanks in Advance

Gary.

Ebay is always a good option for this sort of thing, check the Mhz of the new fob is the same, not sure how to reprogram i assume you can do it yourself.

have you tried to reprogram the key you have, I've had ones that have lost the code for whatever reason, a reprogam some times sorts it ,
is it a MK4 or 5?

try this

Insert the ignition key and turn from position II (Ignition) to position 0 (All off) and back four times within three seconds.
Remove the ignition key. The locking control system is now in "learn mode" for the next 20 seconds and the red warning system LED (By the clock) stays on continuously to indicate this.
During the 20 seconds press one of the transmitter buttons. The remotes signal and code number is learned by the locking module and is indicated by flashing the warning system LED.
Wait until learn mode times out (20 seconds) or switch the ignition back to ON.

works with focuses and mondeos too

the two keys are needed for reprogamming the Pats system not the transmitter door locking part
bullit

Random question but does your central locking still work? Or has that just gone caput and you're blaming it on your key fob? :p
