Try your best!

I'm half heartedly thinking of an upgrade to my old shuttle system (x800 XT, 2500+ Athlon XP-M, etc).

I figured that I can reuse the IDE hard drive and DVD writer so that saves a little - so I'd need:

New Processor
New Motherboard
Case
PSU
RAM
Graphics Card

Ideally would like a smallish case, 2nd hand stuff is always an option!

... and how much could I get for the below to go towards my upgrade?
Shuttle SN45G (Athlon)
1Gb DDR Ram
XP-M 2500+
X800 XT AGP

Cheers!

better going 2nd hand in my opinion

Yup, what i really wanted was a rough estimate of gaming-grade components (I haven't looked into PC parts for at least 3 years or more!).

E.g. I know that the 8800GT is a nice card which can be had for around 50 quid ish 2nd hand.

If the x800 XT supported the newer shader models then that'd be fine, but it doesn't unfortunately :( So I can't even play mass effect!

Nothing wrong with a good ol 16mb cache IDE hdd!

Surely spending 200 quid on dual core, gfx that supports shader model 3 would be better than my current setup?

Though I'm not a hardcore gamer, I still play quake3 haha. I want something that can play single player games (latest and greatest ones).

Yes, but I think if you save up for a month more to get £300, £250, maybe even £230 there will be some quite noticeable benefits. :)

Saving isn't a problem, but having a wife is! :D

Just wanted to shift my old gear and spend roughly 100 quid in real money really!
